UI’SU Postpones Congress in Absence of Quorum

At 12:30 pm at the SUB Foyer, two hours and thirty minutes after the proposed time for the Congress, the Student Union President, Odedele Covenant, dismissed the Congress owing to the low number of participants.

Addressing those present, he assured students of the Union’s efforts to mobilise students for the Congress but acknowledged that at 250 participants, a quorum of 500 had not been reached and resolutions could not be made. “We’ve tried our best to mobilize students from different halls, we have asked leaders across multiple constituencies.”

As a result, the SU President dismissed the Congress and promised to reconvene at a future date with better planning. The mood at the SUB Foyer was one of aggrievement, with multiple students hurling expletives.
