Breaking: COMUI Electricity Disconnected

Following a period of electricity supply from 8 pm to 11 pm on Tuesday, 29th April, the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan has from the 30th of April, 2025 been disconnected from the electrical grid.

According to reports, the Latunde Odeku Medical Library and Ayodele Falase Hall still remain supplied by electricity, while the College Building and Alexander Brown Hall were without electrical supply for the day. All other parts of the University College Hospital remain connected.

This development, confirmed in a release from the UCH Students’ Association (USA) comes after days of inconsistent power supply within the University College Hospital, Ibadan, including a 24-hour blackout period before the brief restoration of power on the night of the 29th. The USA has through her President, Adeniran Happiness, assured COMUI students of attempts to engage with relevant stakeholders.

In the aftermath of the restoration of power to Alexander Brown Hall and Ayodele Falase Hall on the 18th of February, 2025, following a 109-day blackout, electricity supply within the University College Hospital has been strictly rationed at a rate of eight hours per day before this apparent breakdown.
