SRHIN UI Inducts 15 New Intakes
On Saturday, 14th of December, 2024, the Slum and Rural Health Initiative, University of Ibadan Hub (SRHIN UI) inducted 15 new members at their monthly General meeting which took place at the SRC Chambers, Kunle Adepeju Building, UI.
The program began with an address by the President of the Club, Iwaleso Akintunde. Following this, the Vice-President and Director of Membership, Emmanuel Idowu, gave a speech centered around the theme of the event: “Leadership and the Butterfly Effect; A Ripple in the Pond of Social Change.” He encouraged the new Inductees on the importance of the mindset of leadership with influence. “Being intentional with the mindset that the most seeminly insignificant actions eventually have an impact on the overall results of social changes,” he said. He ended his speech by highlighting the importance of empathy and sacrifice in the act of leadership.
After the speech, Mr. Iwaleso walked the new inductees through the necessary orientations and rules binding the members of the club. This was followed by an oath of membership taken by the 15 new intakes. Akindehin Ayooluwa Shalom clinched the Best Inductee award, for her performance during the recruitment process.
Speaking with UIMSA Press, Miss Akindehin expressed her delight at winning the award, saying “I’d say it’s a privilege to have been awarded the best inductee for the 2024 recruitment process. I had the opportunity of being interviewed by the President of the hub and I was able to voice out ways in which I can work with the club to achieve its aims and objectives. I hope to continue to give my best to the Hub for the greater good of our communities. I’d like to thank Emmanuel Idowu for bringing SRHIN UI HUB to me”.
SRHIN is a non-governmental organization dedicated to health equity and improving access to health information in rural and underserved communities, present in Nigeria, Ethiopia and The Gambia.
