The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, has been unveiled as the venue for the 2024 Nigerian Medical Students’ Association (NiMSA) South-West Regional Convention in an announcement made via social media on Saturday, the 8th of June, 2024.
The announcement, made primarily on WhatsApp, was also accompanied by a link to a group for further information. There was no mention of a date for the event.
Speaking with the Press, the Regional Director, of Monitoring and Evaluation, NiMSA South-West, Makanjuola Ayomide, confirmed that NiMSAites were to expect an announcement of the date, ‘soon’. He also said, “It (the 2024 Convention) should be one of the best conventions NiMSAites have attended, if not the best. A lot of effort has been and is still been made so that this year’s convention will forever be in the hearts and memories of NiMSAites”.
He confirmed that the Organising Committee will be headed by Sidiq Taofeeq, Regional Director of Sports, NiMSA South-West, and a member of the Ladoke Akintola University Medical Students’ Association (LAUMSA). When contacted, Mr. Sidiq echoed the same sentiments, saying, “LAUMSAites are so glad to have the convention. We’re planning as well as we can to make it a memorable one”. He also assured the Press that the date would be communicated “but most importantly after the NiMSA Games”.
The last convention took place in September 2023 and was hosted by the Olabisi Onabanjo University Medical Students’ Association.
